JOURNALING - WHY DO IT?
Journaling is a safe an effective way to express
and release your emotions in a way that is unthreatening, freeing and
liberating. There is not one way to do it. The main thing is that
you find a form that best helps you to express yourself, release your emotions
and thoughts.
Journaling can be in the form of words (points,
poetry, letters) or pictures (picture stories, clippings or cut outs, vision
boards, drawings). It does not matter if you type if or write it, it does
not even matter if you save your journals. It is a common concern to worry
about expressing our raw emotions in fear that your journal would be found, but
destroying or deleting your journal is still as effective. The key is
that you use this tool to share your authentic self, to yourself.
People choose to journal about different things,
you can journal your meals and exercise, your gratitude’s, your life plans and
dreams, your daily activities and experiences, your past thoughts and pains,
you can write "undelivered" letters to achieve closure between those
who are no longer in your life. You can write to clear your thoughts and
get clarity to what you are truly thinking, feeling and wanting. Journaling
can open up your creativity to realize solutions and see ideas separate from
your ego. Either way whatever you choose to write will be powerful and
therapeutic and give you a sense or power and clarity in your own life.
It can help you unblock emotions that have been buried deep within.
Starting journaling can be as simple as grabbing a piece of paper and
letting the thoughts and words flow. It does not have to be fancy, long
or even grammatically correct. You can write in the morning or evening,
once a day or once a week or when every you feel the urge, all I suggest to you
is to start. The more you do it the more you get from it.
